Trafficking
Sex trafficking currently is and has always been a global problem which is often confused with sexwork. The exact number of people trapped because of sex trafficking is nearly impossible to be understood because of the hidden nature of the crime.
At WINS we work with vulnerable groups of women with a clear understanding about the differences between the two:
Sexwork
When a person willingly involves in sale of sex, when it is consensual it would not be a violation of human rights. This is called Sexwork.
Sex Trafficking
When a person takes part in sex through the means of coercion like threat or abduction which is a clear violation of human rights, it is known as Sex Trafficking.

Our Work
- To build the capacity of state-level sex worker led initiatives to support and promote evidence based policy and programming
- Building consensus among the sex worker networks and making their voices heard and influential
- Identification and highlighting the key gaps in information needed in decision-making and advocacy around sex workers’ needs
- Conducting sensitization and awareness campaigns to raise awareness about sexworkers’ rights among police personnel, civil society and other stakeholders
Impact
- Decrease in police violence against female sexworkers.Many police officials have come forward to work along with WINS
- Sex workers have increased access to social support services and better health services
- Many sex workers experience less stigma and are empowered
- There is decreased violence and discrimination against violence
- Increased awareness around the idea of safe sex practices among the sexworker networks
