LGBT Initiative

At WINS, we believe in strengthening political presence and policy processes that are conducive for LGBT communities by building mass LGBT movement.

The LGBT initiative at WINS works in collaboration with Non-Government Organisations (NGOs) and Community Based Organisations(CBOs) involving different stakeholders, policy makers and other support groups to create a positive and enabling environment for the betterment of Transgenders and sexual minorities in society.

  • Increased visibility, sensitivity, inclusion and affirmative action at the local, regional and state level
  • Increased support from allies from women’s movements, sexworkers’ movements and child rights movements
  • Mobilizing and sustaining movement to repeal the century old Telangana Eunuch Act
  • Implementation of Supreme Court judgement recognizing transgender rights
  • Building solidarity with larger nationwide movements for greater visibility and support
